Coachella Day 2 -- Bon Iver Surprises, Radiohead Snores

Day 2 Coachella yesterday -- temps topped 105 -- I survived.  And, the heat ain't letting up today.

Day 2 impressions?  Radiohead -- the night's headliner -- lost the crowd by focusing, self-indulgently, on their minimalist musical meanderings.  The band once had me years ago, but have lost me.  And, they had an opportunity to thrill the crowd, but instead lost them.  The crowd continued to disperse as the show went on -- beyond disappointing.

On the other hand, Bon Iver surprised us all -- an amazing set with what is seemingly snoozing music -- but wasn't.  The orchestrations were grand -- and loud -- a very different Bon Iver than you would expect.    They were the day's highlight.  Magnificent.

AWOLNATION was my other highlight of the day -- great energy amid the heat on the main stage.  An interesting band -- tough to pigeonhole.  That's what makes them interesting.

And, then there was The Shins, Noel Gallagher, Manchester Orchestra and on ... and on ....

Day 3 starts soon -- first stop -- Santigold on the main stage at 3:25.
