Apple Opens Up the iPhone and VC Kleiner Perkins Opens Up its Wallet to Establish New "iFund"

Big news from Cupertino -- Apple soon will open up its iPhone to outside development and applications, beating back earlier criticism of its earlier closed eco-system approach. Apple also announced that the iPhone soon will work with corporate e-mail services, taking a direct shot at the Blackberry and its dominance.

And, perhaps most surprising (though nothing should surpise anymore), Apple also now has entered the VC game in a big way with renown Silicon Valley VC firm Kleiner Perkins -- which just announced the establishment of a new $100 million "iFund" to invest in companies focused on development of applications for the iPhone.
