YouTube'd! Tough Few Days for Some Video Sharing Sites

Rough few days for some video sharing sites, including YouTube -- the grand-daddy and 800 pound gorilla of them all. As a result of censorship by the Pakistani government over a single video that it felt was "dangerous", YouTube was inadvertently tanked for several hours over the weekend. Users around the world could not access videos on the site during.

And, yesterday, San Diego-based Stage6 -- operated by DivX -- announced it would shut down after failing to find a buyer. Stage6 had failed to rank in the Top 25 video sharing sites on the Web according to Nielsen Online (whereas YouTube, of course, ranks #1 and San Diego-based Veoh ranks #10).
