News Corp -- a leader among "traditional" media companies in the digital media space -- has acquired religious social networking site Beliefnet. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. In an interesting twist, unlike News Corp's other acquired Internet properties, Beliefnet will not be part of the Fox Interactive Media group, but instead will be brought into the fold of the Fox Entertainment Group which primarily uses Internet properties to promote and distribute Fox's movies and television shows. News Corp already runs Fox Faith, a division of its studio devoted to the Christian audience and faith-based movies.
