I first reported on Google's new OpenSocial initiative earlier in the week. At the time, Google's move seemed to pit the Internet 800 pound gorilla against two other behemoths -- Facebook (in which Microsoft just recently invested at a valuation of $15 billion) and MySpace.
Well, scratch MySpace off that list. MySpace has just joined Google's OpenSocial consortium, meaning that Facebook is alone for now against the growing list of OpenSocial party-goers.
Facebook ultimately may have no choice but to join Google's party, because when Google talks -- virtually everyone listens. And, they certainly are listening and scrambling to be part of this new world order.
