Microsoft is taking hits from all sides today and must feel like the poster child for Daniel Powter's popular song "Bad Day" --
First, the company suffered another major setback yesterday at the hands of an EU court in its antitrust case;
Second, Yahoo! just announced that it will acquire web-based email company Zimbra for $350 million in cash and stock to compete more effectively for the business and institutional email user against Microsoft Exchange;
Third, Google plans to release today its web-based presentation applications to compete head to head against Microsoft's PowerPoint software;
And, if all of this weren't enough,
IBM today launches a free package of software -- called "Symphony" -- to compete directly against components of Microsoft Office.
But, don't feel too bad for Microsoft just yet ... they are still Microsoft after all!
