Viacom Says "Joost Do It!" After Snubbing YouTube

Viacom has announced that it plans to deliver free movies and television shows on Joost, the new YouTube-like service launching soon by Skype and Kazaa founders Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis. Terms of the Viacom/Joost agreement were not disclosed, but the deal follows closely on the heels of Viacom's rattling of sabres against rival YouTube. Viacom most certainly will share related ad revenues generated by its content on the Joost site, much like Digital Music Group Inc. (NASDAQ: DMGI) will share in ad revenues generated by Google's YouTube in a deal also just recently announced.
